Billy Don Bigham, 76, of Lockney, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016 in Lubbock. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Lockney with Gary Bigham and Ricky Castensen officiating. Interment will follow at the Lockney Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Clay Bigham, Garrett Bigham, Don Castleberry, Rick Kellison, Rex Mathis, and Steve Wright. G.L. Hight and Jerry Johnson will serve as honorary pall bearers. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Lockney. Arrangements are under the care of Moore Rose Funeral Home.
He was born May 5, 1940 in Cleburne, Texas to Aldon Lynn and Mary Bigham. Bill's family moved from central Texas to Lockney in 1953, where he graduated from Lockney High School in 1958. Bill then attended Texas Tech where he earned a B.S. in Agronomy in 1962. While attending Texas Tech, Bill was a member of the prestigious crops team. He married Anita Cooper on April 20, 1963. Bill was a farmer for 53 years.
Bill is survived by his wife Anita of 53 years; three sons, Gary Bigham and wife Melissa of Amherst, Troy Bigham and wife Deanna of Lockney, and Clint Bigham of Lockney; a daughter Stacy Hereford and husband Frank of Austin; seven grandchildren, Courtney Brendle and husband Dylan, Garrett, Tanille, Clay, Tabetha, Garyn, Garicyn; one great grandchild, Jett; and two siblings, Jerry and wife JoAnn of Columbus, Ohio, and Mary Lynn Lewis and husband Jim of Plainview.
