Rainey Varner, age 75, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016 in Floydada. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Franks officiating. Interment will follow at the Floyd County Memorial Park in Floydada. The family will hold visitation Monday, October 17, 2016 from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada. Arrangements are under the care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.

Rainey was born January 15, 1941 in Cuthand, Texas to Marvin Murrah Varner and Velma Faye (Bryant) Varner. Rainey grew up on a farm and spent the majority of his early years in the East Texas area with his 10 brothers and sisters. Rainey met Shirley Jo Edwards in Graham Texas and fell madly in love with her. Rainey made her his wife on November 24, 1954. Rainey and Shirley made their first home in Lockney, Texas where he was working at the time. They lived in several surrounding towns before finally making Floydada their home. Rainey was blessed with two daughters, Virginia in 1962 and Sabrina in 1966. Rainey was PaPaw to 4 grandchildren; Christopher, Amanda, Eric and Joshua. He was also extremely lucky to be a PaPaw to 5 great-grandchildren, Hanna, Blake, Megan, Tyler and Payton. Rainey spent most of his career life as a tractor mechanic. He worked at the John Deere house in Floydada for a short time. The majority of Rainey's career was spent at Brown's Implement. After retiring from mechanic work Rainey worked out on the farm with the Carthel Brothers, Cleo Whittle and helped haul pumpkins with Pumpkin Pyle, Rainey was never able to sit still long and somehow managed to find time to mow yards for many people around the community. Rainey's free time was spent with his family and was active in the church. Rainey was a man of faith and loved the Lord. Rainey loved his family and spent his life making sure they were taken care of and knew he loved them.

Rainey is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Faye Varner, brothers Kenneth, Roy and Billy Mac, his sister Mary, and daughter Virginia.

Rainey is survived by his loving wife; Shirley Varner, daughter; Sabrina, son-in-law; Bobby Emert, his grandchildren; Christopher Dechant and wife Melinda, Amanda Dechant and Bob, Eric Emert and Joshua Emert and wife Nelly, his great-grandchildren; Hanna, Blake, Megan, Tyler and Payton, five sisters; Thelma, Velma, Eunice, Janette, Linda and one brother; Larry.

Rainey will be missed by many but never forgotten.
