Robert Olen "Shorty" Turner, 84, of Floydada, TX died on Saturday, July 9, 2016 peacefully at home. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Floydada with Pastor Tim Franks officiating. Graveside service will follow at the Floyd County Memorial Park in Floydada. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.

He was born on March 31, 1932 in Floydada, Texas to Virgil Douglas and Josie Valree Turner. He attended public schools in Floydada and worked for his father's trucking business after graduation. He later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1955. He married Polly Louise Pritchett on December 14, 1957 in South Plains. They lived in Pampa and Lubbock early in their marriage and settled in Floydada in 1962, when he became a business partner in the automobile dealership City Auto, Inc. He maintained this position until his retirement in 2005.

He was preceded in death by his parents Virgil and Valree, his wife Louise, brothers Delmar ("Bud") and Doyle, and brother-in-law Leroy Burns. He is survived by sister Loretta Burns of Floydada, brother Dorman Turner and wife Annette of Wimberly, sister Audeen Irwin and husband Sherman of Lubbock, brother Elton Turner and wife Sandra of Flagstaff, AZ, sister Margie Young and husband Travis of Floydada, and sister-in-law Dorothy Turner of Floydada.

He is also survived by four children and their spouses, Kelly Turner and wife Melinda of Lubbock, Karen Farris and husband Tom of Floydada, Susan Browning and husband Hollis of Waco, and Grant Turner and wife Lisa of Whiteface; grandchildren Alison and Avery Turner, T.K. Farris, Tamala Farris Reece and John Vincent Farris, Mason and Will Browning, Holley Aguilera and Robbie Robinett, and Landon, Halee, and Cooper Turner: and great-grandson Parker Smith.
He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and served as Quartermaster in the local chapter for many years. He was known to many in his local community for his quick wit, friendly disposition, and jokes, and loved to brag on his grandkids. He volunteered countless hours in various school booster organizations over the years.

The family would like to thank Berta Benitez and Priscilla Adams for their gracious care of our Dad.
