Tommy Wilbanks, age 84, formerly of Idalou, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family, on December 26, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00P.M., Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Idalou Cemetery. Arrangements under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Idalou.

Tommy was born on August 26, 1932 in Lake Arthur, New Mexico to William Bradford and Rosa Lee (Bennett) Wilbanks. He attended school in New Mexico and Idalou where he graduated from Idalou High School. He honorably served his country as a member of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict.

He married Joan (Smith) Wilbanks on September 5, 1956 in New Mexico. She preceded him in death in February 1996. Tommy was proud to serve in law enforcement; he served for over 30 years as a police officer for the City of Lubbock, the Lubbock County Sheriff's Department and worked as security at South Plains Mall.

In his spare time Tommy enjoyed wood working.

Tommy is survived by his daughter, Kelly White and her husband B.J., brothers, Ed Wilbanks of Idalou and Pete Wilbanks of Maxwell, Florida, daughter-in-law, Jan Wilbanks of Midland, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Wilbanks, a son, Perry Lee Wilbanks, and brothers, Bill, Dan and Joe Wilbanks.
